At Oak & Iron Builders, one of the greatest compliments we receive is when a past client calls us again for another project. That was the case recently when a repeat client reached out with plans for a new shop build in the spring or summer of 2026.
Rather than waiting, this client took the proactive approach—getting in touch early in the planning process. We love when our clients think ahead like this, because it gives us the opportunity to help shape the vision from the ground up.
This week, we broke ground by preparing a solid red clay pad that will serve as the foundation for the future shop. The pad was carefully layered and compacted, with elevation set to promote optimal drainage. We added a slight tilt to help the surface naturally shed rainwater, a crucial step to protect the long-term integrity of the structure.
Next up: a gravel cap to cover the clay before the winter months arrive, and then, when the time is right, a concrete slabwill be poured to finalize the base.
